Straand raises US$2.6 million in funding round led by Unilever Ventures

THE WHAT? Straand has closed a US$2.6 million funding round led by the Harvey Family Office and Unilever Ventures. The round brings the scalp care brand’s fundraising total to US$4.6 million.

THE DETAILS Straand is hoping to triple sales in fiscal 2024, according to a report published by Beauty Independent, having secured shelf space in Sephora stores across Australia, Southeast Asia and the UK. In the US, it is now sold in Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Amazon.

THE WHY? The brand will use the cash to fuel international expansion. As Co-founder Sarah Hamilton told Beauty Independent, “I think there’s confidence in this space and the brand. A lot of what we’ve spent the initial money on is creating a brand that allows people not to have a taboo around scalp issues. It shows to me that there’s massive interest in beauty, which I think is great and a massive interest in brands that are getting early-stage support from retail.”
